Al-Barakani: We seek to resume Parliament sessions in Aden and we will discuss the feasibility of peace consultations


The Speaker of the House of Representatives Sheikh Sultan Al- Barakani said that efforts were being made to ensure the Council's work in the interim capital of Aden after Ramadan.

"The Council will discuss the resumption of all the issues on its agenda in the coming period, including the security and military situation, the discussion of the general budget of the State and the service aspects," he said in remarks to the Arab Independent.  ", Adding that the Council will ask some ministers to attend the debate.

Commenting on the role of UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffith, he said he was "deliberately splitting the solution of the Stockholm agreement, which focused on the city and Port of Hodeidah" and after the Stockholm Agreement was made difficult by going to "divide Hodeidah agreement" by dividing it into "timed  phases that were not adhered to by" Al-Houthi, "he said, adding that lawmakers will discuss the progress and feasibility of continuing political talks.

He demanded the formation of a commission of inquiry into the recent breakthroughs in favour of the Houthis in both Hajur north of the country and the Al-Oud in central Yemen, stressing that the people's Congress will summon the ministers concerned during the forthcoming sessions of the debate, stressing the need for all to fulfil their constitutional responsibilities.

The Yemeni Parliament held an extraordinary session called by President Hadi on Saturday (April 13th) for the first time in four years. The deputies chose Sheikh Sultan Al-Berkani to preside over the Council.
