MSF: 5 civilians killed and 91 injured as a result of recent clashes in Taiz

Five civilians were killed and 91 others injured in the 5-day fighting between the security campaign and the Abu al-Abbas brigades in the southwestern city of Taiz, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said Tuesday.

MSF-supported medical facilities in the past five days have received five deaths and some 91 wounded civilians and military personnel as a result of violent clashes in the city of Taiz, Médecins sans frontières  said at a Twitter account.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has drawn a temporary suspension of medical activities in a hospital supported by the organization, the only public health facility that still provides maternal health care in Taiz city.

The organization also confirmed that the suspension of activities was lifted one day later, and resumed hospital services, noting the clashes continue to impede access to medical care for patients and pregnant women in Taiz city.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) expressed concern about the inability of patients and medical staff to reach hospitals, and called on both parties to adopt higher standards in providing protection for humanitarian workers.
