Houthis begin proceedings to try Members of Parliament participating in Seiyun meeting on charges of treason


Al-Houthi militias in Sanaa began proceedings to try members of the House of Representatives who attended the parliament meeting in Seiyun city in Hadramawt on April 13.

According to a memorandum issued by the specialized criminal prosecution under the control of the Houthis to the head of the political Security Service, on the 16th of April – received by "Al-Masdar online " Copy of it-considered attending the session of Parliament in Seiyun  "a crime and violation of the integrity and independence of the Republic's territory and intelligence and support of the enemy And other crimes  ".

The prosecution relied on a communication submitted by lawyer Abdulwahab al-Khail, demanding that criminal proceedings be instituted against the members on charges of violating the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen and treason. The seizure of their funds in preparation for their confiscation is a criminal offence, according to a communication obtained by "Al-Masdar online".

The prosecution directed the head of the political security service to  "Speed up the preparation of transcripts and the collection of inferences for (members participating in a Seiyun session) and refer them to the prosecution so that the proceedings can be completed."

The Yemeni Parliament held a special session called by President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi this month for the first time in almost five years.
