4Houthis killed, 7 wounded in battles against Popular Resistance west of Shabwa – source

Four militants from the Houthi group and forces loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh were killed and seven others wounded in battles against the Popular Resistance in Asilan district, west of Shabwa province, southeast of Yemen, a field source said on Monday.

The Yemeni news agency “Saba” reported, citing a source in the resistance, that fierce fighting broke out Monday afternoon between the two sides in Tewal al Sadah area of Asilan, which is still under the control of the Houthis-Saleh militants.

The source pointed out that the Houthis had launched an attack on the Popular Resistance, but the latter confronted them.

For months, repeated battles have been flaring in Asilan and Bihan districts of Shabwa between pro-government forces, backed by the Popular Resistance, and the Houthis-Saleh forces, without significant progress on the ground.
