5 children and youth from one family killed and injured in a landmine blast in al-Jawf


Five youths and children from one family were killed Monday morning when a landmine planted by the Houthis exploded in al-Jawf province (northeast Yemen).

A boy and a young man were killed and three others from the family of "Hamad Mutlaq" were injured, two of them seriously injured, when a mine exploded in a car on their way to sell their firewood in the city of al-Hazm, the capital of the province, a source in al- Jawf told the Al-Masdar online.

According to the source, the car in which the mine exploded was on the sub-road linking the "Jabal Shyhat " Displacement camp with the city of Al-Hazm, and the family was a displaced person residing in a camp where displaced people from Khab Al-Sha’af directorate.

The mine was planted by elements working for the al-Houthi group, he said, adding that the mine was located far from the Houthis ' control areas, but it was likely that the mine would be targeting  at the men in the displacement camp in order to prevent them from going to the fighting fronts of the legitimate government. .
