The Security Council deplores the fact that the Houthis did not attend the Geneva discussions and confirms the implementation of its resolutions on Yemen

The UN Security Council regretted that the Houthis ' delegation did not attend Geneva to participate in the UN-sponsored consultations.

In a statement issued on Tuesday's special session on Yemen, the Council welcomed the presence of the government delegation to Geneva and regretted that representatives of the Al-Houthi group were not present despite the efforts of the United Nations and other States to address their concerns. The Security Council reiterated its support for the continued efforts of the UN envoy to build confidence between the parties.

In a summary of the statement published by Al-Jazeera correspondent, the Council stressed that only a political solution could end the conflict and alleviate human suffering.

The Security Council urged all parties to support the envoy-led process with regard to confidence-building measures and to engage in any future consultations in good faith and seize the opportunity to reduce tension.

The Council requested the UN envoy to keep it closely informed of developments so as to enable him to take the necessary measures to support the political settlement.

The Security Council renewed its demand for the full implementation of all its resolutions on Yemen, including resolution No. 2216. He also reiterated his strong commitment to the unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Yemen.
